The General Council of SOPREST and the GIK Institute and its composition is the same as that of the Board of Governors of the GIK Institute. It has overall responsibility of the Institute, and has the power to create new components of the institute such as school, faculty or any other teaching or research unit, and to  change the constitution of the Executive Committee and General Council. Mr. Farid Rehman after serving in the Civil Service of Pakistan for adecode joined UNICEF as a Senior Adviser. Mr. Rahman was especially assigned by the UN to advise the Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction & rehabilitation Authority set up after serious earthquake of 2005 (ERRA) in setting up the new organization and helping in policy formulation and managing donor relations.

Mr. Rahman was the Minister for Finance, Planning and Development and Local Government, in the Government of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan.

In this capacity he supervised the formulation and implementation of the Provincial Reform Programme, whilst building the provinces economic and infrastructure base, resource base and improving fiscal responsibility. In his capacity as Minister for Local Government , Mr. Rahman implemented the new System of Local Government in the Province focusing on fiscal devolution and decentralized decision making. He also a member of the Board of Directors/ Board of Governors of a number of Public and private organizations, involved in public welfare and socio-economic development. Dr. Ishfaq belongs to Lahore where he completed his education from Government College. In 1951 he did his MSc with distinction with roll of honour. Engr. Salim Saifullah Khan, Member

Salim Saifullah Khan is a Pakistani politician and President of a faction of the Pakistan Muslim League and a Senator of Pakistan and Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate Foreign Relations, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Committee. He has in the past remained Finance Minister, Industries, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He is the younger brother of Anwar Saifullah Khan former Federal Minister Petroleum, and Humayun Saifullah Khan Nishan-e-Imtiaz Former Member National Assembly, His mother Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan, Hilal-e-Imtiaz Pakistan was ex-MNA and former Former Federal Minister.

Mr. Osman Saifullah Khan is a successful individual and has been a member of the Senate since March 2012.  He is a member of four Senate Standing Committees: Finance, IT and Telecommunications, Petroleum and Natural Resources, and the Textile Industry. Earlier he held a variety of strategic and operating positions with the Saif Group of Companies.
