Dr Noor Muhammad’s visit to the Oxford University

Dr Noor Muhammad has attended and presented his research paper titled (Measuring the success and failure of SMEs (service industry) based on PZ&B service quality dimensions in rural areas: evidence from Pakistan) in the 7th International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Science Studies (ICISSS) at Oxford University UK from 12th – 15th November 2017 by representing the Department of Management Sciences (Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology). He also chaired one session in the conference. Furthermore, he visited Said Business School (Oxford University) to involve the Said Business School with the department of management sciences to avail their expertise to our new MBA program. MBA program coordinator in Said Business School showed keen interest to provide their advice and assistant to GIK institute for an MBA program. …

Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi assumed charge as 9th Pro-Rector (Academic) of GIK Institute

Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi has assumed charge as the 9th Pro-Rector (Academic) of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Earlier Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Chattha, former Pro-Rector (Academic), relinquished his charge and left to join his family in USA. A dedicated and energetic scholar, Prof. Nabi has been actively engaged in research, teaching and community services for the last 15 years in GIK Institute. He pursued his doctoral research work in theoretical/computational nuclear astrophysics at Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany.  During his PhD, he worked at the Gran Sasso Lab (Italy) on the Heidelberg-Moscow Experiment. After completion of his PhD in 1999, he was awarded the prestigious Max-Planck-Society Scholarship and did postdoctoral research in the field of nuclear astrophysics.  In the same year, he was hired by the Department of Energy, USA, for a project in nuclear astrophysics and served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, for three years. Soon after his returning to Pakistan, he joined GIK Institute in 2002. Before his promotion to Pro-Rector (Academic) post, Prof. Nabi had worked as Dean Students Affairs and Dean Faculty of Engineering Sciences, GIK Institute. During his teaching and research career in GIK Institute, he has produced several graduate scholars and availed several national and international research grants. Prof. Nabi is member of numerous national and international academic/technical committees. He has associate membership of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Italy), TWAS-UNESCO Associateship and European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas, Prof. Nabi is actively engaged in various assignments from Pakistan Science Foundation and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and works as member of several key national committees. Prof. Nabi has published more than 100 research papers/articles/preprints, majority in International journals of repute with high impact factors and citations. Having tremendous interest in promoting science in Pakistan, he has been a member of many teams for outreach programs in Pakistan and also member of various national and international academic committees. Dr. Nabi is the current Ambassador of Heidelberg University, Germany in Pakistan, Member of American Physical Society and Fellow of Institute of Physics, UK. The out-going Pro-Rector (Academics), Prof. Chattha remained associated with GIK Institute since its inception in 1993. He taught at both undergraduate and doctorate level for about 24 years and remained Dean Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.  A well experienced and distinguished teacher and researcher, Prof. Chattha’s role as a faculty member would be remembered for a long time.  His scholarly approach, creative work, teaching and service were distinguished and distinctive. The Rector, GIK Institute, Engr. Jehangir Bashar lauded Prof. Chattha’s services and congratulated Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un-Nabi, hoping that his scientific expertise in research and academic experience would help GIK Institute reach many more milestones. …

President of Pakistan visits GIK

President Mamnoon Hussain, who is also the Chancellor of GIK Institute, visited the Institute on 15th December, 2016. Addressing students, he said that the industrial and technological revolution would create several opportunities in the country and it was time to equip the youth with new advancements in these sectors and enable them to grab  these opportunities. The President stressed on comprehensive planning for promotion of professional and technical education to ascertain and meet the demands emerging in near future in different sectors, adding that the educational institutes had a great responsibility to show in this regard. “It is my dream that out institutes get world fame by promoting research work and quality education and the students from across the world wish to come to Pakistan to get their higher education” he said and added that GIK and some other institutes had the potential to gain excellence in the world.    …
